Patrick has been the president of Cross-Trainers Health & Fitness Club since its inception in 1997 and has over 30 years of experience in the industry. He and his partner opened the Holistic Health Playground and HHP Sport Conditioning early in 2009 to address the need for private coaching, team training and workshops. His formal education began with the Kinesiology program at Simon Fraser University in 1984, and currently holds multiple health, fitness, sports conditioning, wellness, and corrective exercise certifications. He is a 2005 graduate of the Twist Conditioning Mentorship Program and has enjoyed coaching amateur and pro athletes in Hockey, Baseball and Soccer. Patrick developed C.R.O.S.S. Trainers as a system and philosophy for his primary scope of training (C.orrective R.estorative O.r S.port S.pecific) and believes in recognizing the whole person in developing a truly personalized and effective program. Patrick’s unique approach to goal attainment empowers the client to take control of their health, wellness and conditioning program to ensure lasting results. 

Several of Patrick's clients have gone on to play College and University level Hockey, Baseball and Soccer.

Fun Facts:

Inspired father of 3 extraordinary human beings. Two sons that went on to play junior and college hockey respectively and a daughter whose passion was equestrian eventing.

As a teenager. Patrick transformed his very skinny 110 lb body into 185 lbs without adding any body fat while racing BMX.

Managed to start, maintain and grow a gym and fitness business while working full-time in another job, commuting to Vancouver from the Sunshine Coast and working as a volunteer firefighter.

Overcame numerous personal and business setbacks to create the Private Training, Coaching and Wellness Centre he now passionately operates from his home.

Most importantly and most challenging, overcame several injuries, physical illness, anxiety and depression through coaching, education and a determination to be well once again. His greatest privilege and passion is passing on everything he has learned to his clients.

Which brings him to where he is today and his current great privilege and passion. He is excited about the opportunity to join Cross Hockey Development in offering this one-of-a-kind, much-needed service to aspiring hockey players in his beloved community and beyond.

BRAEDAN CROSS

 Founder / Development Coach

Braedan earned a Master of Science degree in Sport Business Management from Manhattanville College, located in Purchase, New York, USA. Prior to graduate school, he was a member of Manhattanville’s NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association) Hockey team. In Braedan’s sophomore year his team won the United Collegiate Hockey Conference Championship and earned a berth in the NCAA championships. Prior to college, Braedan also spent five years in the junior hockey ranks amongst various leagues; including the VIJHL, MJHL, SJHL, NOJHL, and BCHL. During his college years in the United States, he also spent time volunteering as a development coach for USA hockey.  

Additionally, Braedan specializes in sport specific training for complete hockey development by implementing his own experiences with private experts and professional athletes and combining it with his academic background. Braedan has designed Cross Hockey Development to provide a variety of innovative techniques, programs, and training methods with in-depth analysis for elite athletes to help develop their mental and physical skills in the game of hockey.  

GILBERT BRULÉ

Partner, Hockey Expert & Development Coach

Born in Edmonton but growing up on the North Shore in beautiful BC since he was 2 years old, Gilbert Brulé has spent the majority of his life playing the amazing sport of ice hockey.  Beginning his journey at 4 years old he quickly found his traction and was on his way! At 15, he started his junior career in the BCHL with the Quesnel Millionaires and took home the Rookie of the Year honours as and underage player.  Drafted first overall into the Western Hockey League by the Vancouver Giants Gilbert excelled in every aspect of the game again winning Rookie of the Year in his first season. He would go on to make the first and second All Star teams over 2.5 seasons as well as CHL Scholastic Player of the Year, a WHL championship, WHL playoff MVP and Memorial Cup Top Scorer and First Team All Star. Being drafted into the NHL 6th overall by the Columbus Blue Jackets in 2005 and immediately joining the team as an 18 year old.  Gilbert would go on to play with the Edmonton Oilers and the Phoenix Coyotes. Also spending some time in the American Hockey League with the Syracuse Crunch and Springfield Falcons. Winning a Pacific Division Championship in 2011-12 with the Coyotes before losing out in the Western Conference Finals against the LA Kings. After playing 300 NHL games he would then move on to the KHL in Russia. Playing 7 seasons on teams in Russia, Croatia and China. In 2018 Gilbert would be selected for Canada’s Mens Olympic team in Pyeongchang and bring home a bronze medal for Canada. He would amass just under another 300 games in the KHL for a total of over 600 professional games over 16 seasons respectively.  

Now retired from hockey and living on the Sunshine Coast in Roberts Creek, Gilbert is married to his wife Ramona Brulé and they absolutely love the Coast! Surrounded by nature and the ocean is where they like to be! They enjoy most outdoor activities, love the beach, and like to show lots of love to their cuddly animals. They both look forward to helping serve as best as they can in our community.
